1. What information do we collect?

Personal information you disclose to us

In Short: We collect personal information that you provide to us.

We collect personal information that you voluntarily provide to us when you express an interest in obtaining information about us or our products and Services, when you participate in activities on the Services, or otherwise when you contact us.

Personal Information Provided by You. The personal information that we collect depends on the context of your interactions with us and the Services, the choices you make, and the products and features you use. The personal information we collect may include the following:

Signing in with your email address

You sign in with your email address alone: we email you a one-time code and sign-in link. No password is created, and no third-party account (such as a Google account) is required or connected.

• What we collect. Your email address, which we use to create and authenticate your account and to send you the messages described in this notice — one-time sign-in codes, and copies of documents you sign. Sign-in codes are stored only in hashed form, work once, and expire within minutes.
• What signing in does not give us. Signing in does not give us access to your mailbox or to any of its contents. If we later offer an optional connection to your email account for the research purposes described in this notice, that will be a separate choice with its own explicit consent, and this notice will be updated before it is offered.

Security and rate limiting. To protect your account, we keep short-lived counters of sign-in attempts (keyed to a cryptographic hash rather than to your address or network address in readable form) and limit how often sign-in emails can be requested.

8. Controls for Do-Not-Track features

Most web browsers and some mobile operating systems and mobile applications include a Do-Not-Track ("DNT") feature or setting you can activate to signal your privacy preference not to have data about your online browsing activities monitored and collected. At this stage, no uniform technology standard for recognizing and implementing DNT signals has been finalized. As such, we do not currently respond to DNT browser signals or any other mechanism that automatically communicates your choice not to be tracked online. If a standard for online tracking is adopted that we must follow in the future, we will inform you about that practice in a revised version of this Privacy Notice.

California law requires us to let you know how we respond to web browser DNT signals. Because there currently is not an industry or legal standard for recognizing or honoring DNT signals, we do not respond to them at this time.

How We Use and Share Personal Information

California Civil Code Section 1798.83, also known as the "Shine The Light" law, permits our users who are California residents to request and obtain from us, once a year and free of charge, information about categories of personal information (if any) we disclosed to third parties for direct marketing purposes and the names and addresses of all third parties with which we shared personal information in the immediately preceding calendar year.
